@drapetxmaniia liked this for a starter from River! || I’m throwing this at 9 ❤
“What a face. I was beginning to think I’d never meet it. You really weren’t kidding about the ears, were you?” She gave a small sigh, shaking her head.
“Stay still, sweetie.” As River stepped forward, she shifted around, untying The Doctor’s wrists in one, smooth movement.
“Oi!” the Doctor didnt hesitate to protest about his ear’s. “Whats wrong with me ears?! they are fine as they are, thanks very much.” He huffed.
It had been another nightmare, he had plenty of course, but this one had felt so real.
He sat, hidden, on a soft plush window seat, on the higher levels of the library, at the back, lying on the cushions. It was a place where he would go to retreat, to hide, in peace… especially after nightmares.
He hugs a cushion to himself, leather jacket on the floor, facing the ‘windows’, which showed the space outside of the tardis, where they were drifting… silent tears soaking the material.
“Doc?”
It’s a small little voice, barely above a whisper, as Jack lingers at the edge of the window. He’s still half hidden behind one of the book shelves, not wanting to intrude but wanting more than anything to offer comfort to the man who’d given him so much.
Ah, fuck it.
He walks over, trying his best to not seem like he’s rushing there, and stops at the Doctor’s side, resting a hand on his shoulder. “Hey, I’m here.”
The Doctor felt himself stiffen, having not realised that he wasn’t alone… But the familiar voice made him relax a little again, but he wasn’t as relaxed as before.
He really dint like showing his friends that he wasn’t fine, so he was trying to collect himself before he turned to look at the man.
“J-Jack…? I- I thought you were in bed…” he cleared his throat and sat up, giving a strained smile, as if he was trying behind a shattered mask.
“Oh my god, you are helpless,” he laughs as the Doctor admits yet again he hasn’t a clue about anything. But Jack wouldn’t have it any other way, and he tugs the Doctor further out into the city. “Only one way to find out then – pick a direction.”
He wasn’t even going to deny that, mainly because it was true. The Doctor allowed the man to pull him along, and slid his hand into his.
“How about… The Bay? Lets go see what sort of stuff they have on the docks and then we can continue from there.”
“Alright, sailor boy, let’s go.” He heads in the direction of the water, which fortunately isn’t too far from where they’ve parked. Jack has to admit, it’s actually quite a nice sight.
“Reminds me of my home planet,” he says, almost quietly, like he’s sharing a secret. Which he is. “Our colony was on the beach, and we’d play on the shores as kids a lot.”
The Doctor really liked the feeling of their hands being linked together. He didnt care about the stares people gave them, they could go screw themselves. Because if the doctor had his way, he and Jack would be dating by tonight and officially a couple…. but first he had to gather the nerve to ask him.
“Ever thought about going back for a visit?” He had a feeling it might be too painful for Jack to go, but if asked, he would have taken him and stood on that beach with him in a heartbeat.
He squeezed his hand gently, showing that he was there for him., that it was okay, he could tell him anything he wanted too and it would stay between only them. “I mean you dont have too, but if given a chance, would you?”

The Doctor cant help but look at him wides eyed, in shock. He had been so sure that he had killed them all. That he couldn’t feel them in his mind…
Perhaps it was just trauma and the grief blocking it all off? Perhaps he was hallucinating the man in front of him.
“…I- I thought-…. But-….” He couldn’t form the words. His mind was racing and he couldn’t catch them.
The TARDIS was quiet. Rose had went to visit her mother and The Doctor was standing on the other side of the console from jack… when he asked an important question.
“Jack… if… if I was to ask you to… kiss me… would you do it?” He asked him peering around the pillar at the human.
He knew it was out of nowhere… but he was growing rather jealous that the man had kissed everyone… yet had never even attempted to kiss him yet… so he had to ask…
