Let villains be villains. But, also don’t forget that they don’t need to be in their ‘villain’ mode 24/7
Corporate and political villains will live their lives mostly normally, outside their shady work.
Warlords, corrupt politicians, crooked law enforcers, other unsavory authority figures, unethical doctors, etc, have families and friends, and full lives outside the shitty things they do.
Even serial killers, hitmen, violent fanatics, etc, can have lives; hobbies, friends, romantic partners, and so on.
Most villains will be shitty people only in certain aspect(s) of their lives, and carry on like everyone else the rest of the time.
They are still absolutely shitty people but being afraid to emphasize on their human sides, to lose the sight of their villainy, is incorrect, and takes away a lot of interesting aspects of a character for potential development.
The Master had to hold himself back from swearing at him. “Hmm, Perfect for hiding, while you, with your lanky long arms are easy to spot, harder to get into the little places.. its why i win at hide and seek.” He shrugged.
“and also, You will also never be the perfect little spoon with that hight.” he comments with a smirk.
“I still maintain that you cheat at hide and seek, and I don’t have to be the perfect little spoon, when I can just be the big spoon.”
The Doctor always lost hide and seek, but not necessarily because he couldn’t hide; just because he got distracted very easily and would end up wandering off or doing something else, and forget he was supposed to be hiding.
“I don’t cuddle anyway. Spooning is unnecessary.”
Another lie.
“Lie.” He poked him in the ribs and rushes past him.
“Lets see then! Ill hide! and you Seek! lets see if you can find me! If you do, you can be the little spoon, if im successful at staying hidden then im little spoon, and you have to admit that being shorter is better.” he grins.
“Count to 100, and no using the tardis.” he winks and rushes off. He makes his way to the Library, to the second floor, to the very corner of the room, up the ladder on the bookshelf, to his secret hide away next to the ceiling in the corner, a place that was WAY too small for some one as tall as the doctor to squeeze into.
Settling down, he plumps up the little cushion he had, covers himself with the blanket and proceeds to read the book he had lying there, waiting.
