(They need to meet somehow lol) – 10th Doctor – “ Who are you really? “
“Really and truly?” Layla asks with a lilting tease, mischief shining in her honey-gold gaze. “Well, that would depend on who you ask, I suppose. Or when you ask. And what timezone we’re in. And personal timelines…”
Her smirk grows as she looks up at him. “Surely you know how it is, oh Lord of Time. But if you require a name, you may call me Layla Jacquel.”
“Layla, eh? A pleasure to meet you Miss Layla Jacquel, Im the Doctor, tho you might actually know that.” He smiled.
“Tell me, Layla, Are you going to be Trouble? Or can i trust that Earth and its people are going to be safe when i’m not around, hmm?”
Not that they were ever really safe without him there, which was why he almost always had to save them… and so often as well.
“I…. I think I’m gonna pause on the traveling for the moment… I seem to be getting more and more fixed points these days and I need a tiny break… so yeah, I’ll be fine.” She gives a small smile, but under it she was exhausted.
“That sounds like a good idea sweetie, why don’t we put the old girl in the time vortex and you can just relax.” River would be lying if she said she wasn’t concerned about her wife.
“Thats if ill remember how to relax… I feel wound up…” She told her rushing around the console, pushing and pulling leavers, bashing buttons and pretending all was relatively fine.
Owen was doing what Owen did best… well what he did best when he was relaxing, in between tasks.
Having done his bit, he was now free for a bit, so he was just leaning back in his computer chair listening to the clacking of Tosh’s keyboard.
“Tosh?” He called not opening his eyes. “What do you really think about Gwen, Hmm?”
He was only asking this because the diva bitch had already gone home and he wanted to know if she had pushed her bad impression onto everyone else… especially after the time she forcefully made herself in command when it was supposed to be him…
Sadly no matter how much he had tried, she was deaf to what he had to say, saying that he was just jealous and not to be a bastard and to just do as she said….
THANKFULLY; Ianto and Tosh has been a godsend during that time, because they knew he was the real second in command appointed by jack.
He still hadn’t taken her out for a drink yet, to say thanks…
The Doctor hadn’t noticed when she had started to drift off while reading in the library. She had been studying some old Gallifreyan writings, brushing up on stuff that he was meant to know, but had been quite the rebel so she had barely passed the academy.
She startled slightly, half awake when she felt someone pick her up, letting out a small whine of confusion in her sleepy state.
“Come on, sweethearts,” he said as she fussed. He shifted her in his arms, cradling her a bit more as he carried her to bed. “You’ve been working too much, even your brain needs to rest a bit.”
She frowned and snuggled up to him, nuzzling his neck. “Only if ya stay with meh…” she mumbled, her accent thicker in her sleepiness.
“Such a sweet talker,” She murmured with a soft smile. “What did i do to deserve such a gentleman, hmm?” She kissed him happily.
“I hope you realise im never letting you go now that i have you back and that i know that the feeling is and was mutual~” she now gifted him with an eskimo kiss, cupping his face with her small hands.
“We both know it’ll take me even longer to get to sleep if you do that.”
Because they’ll both keep distracting each other, the way they so often did as children. But he does know he’ll sleep much better when he finally does fall asleep, if she’s there.
“Alright, though. Deal.” He’s too exhausted to argue with her. He’s had a long day, and so has she, and it’s so much easier to just accept that she knows what’s going to help him than to deny all accusations that her presence will improve his sleep. They’ve been through all that before. He always loses the argument because she’s right.
The Doctor wanders slowly towards his bedroom, leading the way.
“No shoes in the bed,” he mumbles before essentially collapsing into it, face first. He just lays there for a minute, then another, and finally he rolls onto his side to take off his own shoes.
She scoffed softly. “What do you think i am? An Animal? Of course i know that there are no shoes in bed.” She mutters, before sitting on the bed and started to unlace her boots.
“Do you still have my jim-jam’s in Your draws? I really cant be bothered to go get them from my room… or Just give me a shirt and ill sleep in that.” she shrugged, taking her jacket off.
She was NOT sleeping in her dress, especially not in THIS corset.
Theta was hunched over the console. He had dropped off Bill at her home, told the university that he was resigning… and parked the TARDIS, after collecting his stuff from his office, Out side the university grounds so that Bill could still find him.
But now that he was blind… He had no idea what to do… He couldn’t exactly do traveling… Especially now that he couldn’t even see the console itself…
He was grounded till he regenerated… And that was something he did NOT want to do.
Everything had rules, from the tiniest chemical reaction, all the way to the entire universe. Generally, everything knew to follow those rules – but occasionally, there were things, unspoken, small things that only those who lived long enough picked up on, like the subtle change in the general feeling of the universe when the Doctor was not out and about in his TARDIS to explore it.
And the Master had certainly lived long enough for that.
So when he went to find the ship and the Doctor – to gloat, of course, not because he was worried, obviously, that would be ridiculous – it didn’t take him long. The wood of the TARDIS was cold as he knocked – she seemed upset.
“Theta?”
The Doctor’s shoulders tensed at the sound of the familiar voice, The TARDIS door clicking open without his permission and he made sure that he had the Console and the screen, between him and the door, so he could pretend to be busy.
“What… How are you here?” he asked having quickly shoved sunglasses onto his face and peered around the column to ‘look’ at the other. “Actually, why are you here…”
“Much better now that I’m with you…” she mumbled he head on his chest. “I missed you… memories started to crop up, and then regrets that we didn’t surrender to each other earlier…” she kissed his jawline.
For half a second, Koschei just stood there, letting her kiss him without a reaction. Then he tilted his head ever so slightly and changed the angle just enough to return the gesture properly.
“What memories?”
“Just…. Memories, our usual rivalries and then the more nicer ones… when we had to work together… those are my favourite… The calm Chats we had on the vallient… sorta wish i talked a bit more during the yeah and not kept silent…” Theta mumbled.
A fond smile appeared on her lips and she sat up slightly so that she could kiss his nose properly.
“I mean, you would have to find him first. Ryan sent him far back into the past… not sure when or where… but with some luck he will be eaten by a dinosaur.” she grinned.
