Own was doing what Owen did best⌠well what he did best when he was relaxing, in between tasks.
Having done his bit, he was now free for a bit, so he was just leaning back in his computer chair listening to the clacking of Toshâs keyboard.
âTosh?â He called not opening his eyes. âWhat do you really think about Gwen, Hmm?â
He was only asking this because the diva bitch had already gone home and he wanted to know if she had pushed her bad impression onto everyone else⌠especially after the time she forcefully made herself in command when it was supposed to be himâŚ
Sadly no matter how much he had tried, she was deaf to what he had to say, saying that he was just jealous and not to be a bastard and to just do as she saidâŚ.
THANKFULLY; Ianto and Tosh has been a godsend during that time, because they knew he was the real second in command appointed by jack.
He still hadnât taken her out for a drink yet, to say thanksâŚ
âWellâŚ.â Tosh started. She didnât really like to talk shit about her coworkers behind their backs, especially after the whole fiasco with the alien pendant. It felt too dishonest and mean when they werenât there to defend themselves.
On the other hand, Gwenâs bossiness and need for control were grating on her nerves.Â
Tosh lowered her voice, even though they were the only ones there. âHonestly? She needs a day off. Or a week. Weâd all be happier.â
His eyes shoot open and he points back at her, so fast that he almost tipped his chair over. âAgreed.â
âI propose we go to Jack, and get âim to ship Gwen and her boyfriend – slash – fiancĂŠ, off on a unpaid suspension holiday, Give âer a reason to be away from here and us time to have a rest from Her.â He made a face.
âWhat the heck did i even see in her… definitelyonly a one-night stand.â He muttered in disgust, shuddering lightly.
He must have been insane, especially with the beauty that sat next to him.
âMmmmmmmm I say open for suggestions,â she replied, stretching her arms lazily before hanging them off Missy. âThough Iâm really craving crepes right now. So the suggestions should include crepes.â
âThen lets go have Crepes and tea.â She grins and links their arms together. âEasy, no thinking needed.âÂ
âWould you like me to drive? or shall we do it together?â
âCrepes and tea, mmmmmmm,â she hums, resting her hand on Missyâs shoulder before bouncing over to the console. âTogether, of course! Come on!â
Laughing joyfully, the Mistress walks up to the console, more calmly than her love did and puts her hand on the leaver. 3. 2. 1.
And they were off. Rushing around the console, laughing as they tried their best at keeping it less rocky, and actually succeeding somewhat, as missy knew what she was doing.
Brooding? Well, the Doctor hardly had a corner on that market, and a particularly broody Captain happened to wander into exactly the same cafe, a bit desperate for a caffeine fix but also the chocolate croissants they sold there. Seriously, one of those could turn any day around. Jack placed his order and stepped aside, waiting for his order to be finished. He cast his eyes around the cafe, glancing around to catch a glimpse of normal life.
Except this time, he caught a glimpse of his old friend.
âDoctor?â he asked, forgetting about the coffee and croissant and heading over to the Doctor.
The Doctor looks away at the view and raises a brow in surprise. âSpeak⌠or in this case, think of the devil and he will appear⌠Hello Jack.â
He gave him a slight smile, hoping to hide his brooding from his friend. âHere to have some coffee? I myself prefer dark hot chocolate or black tea.â
He takes a sip of his English breakfast tea. âOh and i think your order is ready, feel free to join me when you get it.â
Yeah, he could try and hide it, but it wouldnât work. Still, Jack paused in his observation of the Doctorâs new look to hurry back to the counter and grab his coffee and chocolate croissant before coming back to sit in the chair across from the Doctor.
âSo what brings you to misty Cardiff?â
âOh you know… This That… The view, the people, the coffee…. the Rift… And 21st century Cardiff seems to be the most pleasant so thats a plus… Im Giving her 24 hours to soak up what ever excess there is, you should have a quiet week at the minimum… or only 3 spikes in this month alone.â
He wasnât going to say that he came here because the fog on the bay was the perfect backdrop for a brooding TimeLord, while he broods over things and morns his wife once again.
Helping Jack have less work also was a plus… he should really do that more often.
âAstos!â she yelled into her comm piece. Forget her injured spleen, she took off running for the escape pod.Â
She made it there in record time, despite her shorter legs, and pounded on the door. âAstos! Stay with me, mate. Iâm gonna get you out of there. Stand back!â
Drawing her sonic, she zapped the door and it slid open. âHurry! Get out here now!â
Eyes wide, he had actually thought he was as good as dead. He rushed out the pod chamber, in such a rush that he crashed into the hallway wall and then slid down it as the adrenaline calmed.
âAstos?! Astos are yoo alrighâ?!â He heard Mabli practically scream down the com.Â
âIm Fine Mabli⌠The Doctor managed to get me out in time.â He replied, leaning his head back against the wall.Â
âThank you Doctor⌠I thought i was done forâŚâ he said looking up at her, still a little out of breath, but that would pass once he fully calmed down.
âWith me on the case? Never,â she grinned, then paused and shrugged. âWell, if Iâd been even half a second later, we might be âaving a very different conversation. But! Not out of the woods yet, come on, Astos! We got your patients to save!â
Astos puffed his cheeks out. It had been one hell of a day.
He stood watching everyone sitting about, thankful that no one had died, and that the Pâting hadnât actually been that deadly.
He stood near the computer, smiling at the doctor when she wandered near by. âWell… i guess youll be getting back to your ship after this then? I hope youâll stay back a moment so that i can check you over, you seem to not look after yourself at all… you didnt even take a breather all through today…â he scolded her lightly and took the chance to scan her again.
âOh Koschei you shouldnât have!â But the Doctor was never one to refuse offered food and drinks. So she gladly took them, âWhat brought this on, eh?â
Koschei squints. âIts not actually proper food tho, is it⌠more like fast food.â He scrunches up his nose. âAnd its fine, donât mention it.â he waves off her compliment, trying to not blush.
âIs fast food not proper food?â She was genuinely confused at the statement as she paused her eating, âAw, have I almost made you blush, Koschei?â She chuckled.
He made a face. âIts all fatty… covered in oil…â It rather reminded him of that christmas day when he was âdyingâ.
