@drapetxmaniia liked this for a starter from River! || I’m throwing this at 9 ❤

“What a face. I was beginning to think I’d never meet it. You really weren’t kidding about the ears, were you?” She gave a small sigh, shaking her head.

“Stay still, sweetie.” As River stepped forward, she shifted around, untying The Doctor’s wrists in one, smooth movement.

“Oi!” the Doctor didnt hesitate to protest about his ear’s.
“Whats wrong with me ears?! they are fine as they are, thanks very much.” He huffed.

“Thanks for the help, but who the hell are you?”

“It’s… mechanical. And purring. Bit of a robot cat, it seems.”

“A Robot….. Cat??” He asked confused.
“Why would there be a robot cat out here?”

“Don’t be daft, there’s no robot cats, just somethin’ that sounds like one.” Then, however, she looked at him excitedly. “How brilliant would a robot cat be though?”

“By your facial expression, Very.” He smirked in amusement.
“Tho i thought you prefer K9.”

“So, what is it then, if not a Robot-Cat.”

Jack was reading in his room, stretched out on his bed with a well-worn paperback of poetry in his hand. But he was also getting hungry. So he finished the stanza he was on – it still had another 4 pages to go – and dogeared the page to return to it later.

He stood, stretching out all the tiredness from his limbs, and headed out into the corridor.

Where he ran straight into her.

“Well, hello, beautiful.”

The Tardis stepped back slightly when the ex-time agent almost stepped through her. Yes it wouldn’t hurt, but it did make her loose concentration and glitch ever so slightly when they did that.

“So, I assume that you approve? I do live it when people compliment me, for i do try my best.” She preened with a smirk.
“Sorry about changing the corridors, but i wanted you to come and see my newest update to my self.” she kept it vague, wondering if he could guess who she was.

Not caring for his reaction, she started to fiddle with dials and buttons on the console, side glancing at him still wanting to see his reaction of a strange woman in the Doctor’s ship.

“Oh, very much approve,” he said, eyeing her up and down. The slight little glitch told him it was a hologram, and the fact that she seemed…. familiar made him not too suspicious. Actually, he had a guess as to who she actually was.

“I gotta say, I’m liking the update – but what do you want me to call you? Although I’m perfectly happy to keep calling you ‘gorgeous’.”

Idris beamed.
“I love it when you call me that.” she almost giggled and walked back over to him. “Its a perfect name my Captain”

Making her hand solid she stroked his cheek.
“I was hoping that you would help me fix my problem of not being able to stay solid, Do you know anything about holograms, Captain?”

“Is a bit weird, now that you mention it. Like everything’s centred on you – but why?” She pulled out her sonic to scan her, but instead of getting a result, the sonic was blank. “That’s odd. Never ‘appened before…”

“Hey, you listen to me,” the Doctor said earnestly, reaching over to take her hand. “This is not your fault. It’s… what’s that in your hand?”

Archie blinked and looked down at her hand and then opened it to show the fobwatch she had been clutching.

image

“Oh… its my old watch necklace… i seem to cling on to it when i get nervous… my friends say its a nervous tick, but apparently it helps me think better…”
She rolled it around in her hands looking at the top of the pink gold fobwatch, tracing the swirl patten that was engraved into it.

“Ive had this for so long, i don’t remember not having it…. and whats odd? Is everything okay? Am i okay?”

The Doctor’s eyes were fixed on the fob watch, knowing it could unlock so many secrets, for good or for ill. Her mind whirled, trying to determine whether to follow down that tract now or save it for later, when they didn’t have a whole host of humans to save. If they waited, the humans might be put in even more danger. But have two Time Lords – for that’s certainly what Archieva was, given the watch and her lack of memories – might make things go more quickly.

Arggggh decisions!

“You’re perfectly fine. Can you tell me about your childhood? Might help me figure out why they’re centring on you.”

“Childhood… Um… Mom, Dad, I know i’m adopted, Ma couldn’t have kids for the longest of time so they adopted me, i cant really remember that past well… Oh, My little sister was born when i was 16, She’s 10 now.” She frowned as she tried to recall anything useful.

“Got any specific questions? i dunno what you’re looking for.”

“I have a PhD, I should be able to figure this out…“

“That depends on what exactly you have a PhD in… i for one have a PhD in many things, including Cheese making.”

Layla looks up, a hint of a smirk playing at her lips as she offers, “Mortuary sciences. I got bored at one point in the 20th century, and decided to see just how much post-mortem practices among humans have changed since I was young.”

She blinks then, her smirk turning into a full grin as the Doctor’s words fully catch up with her. “Wait… Cheese making? Where do even study such a thing to get a PhD in it?” she asks curiously with a soft laugh.

“Yeah… I was bored….” She gave her a sheepish smile.
“and its only the Stinky Blue kid anyways… if i remember correctly it was France…” The Doctor hummed in thought.

“Anyways, what are you trying to achieve? perhaps i can see if i can help in some way…”
